The lowest-rated final seasons, episode by episode.
Of the finished shows whose whole run is in Huezle, only one ended on a season clearly rated below its first. The deepest slumps in the IMDb ratings came mid-run, not at the end.
Every strip on this page is a real TV Shows strip from the Huezle app, drawn by the app’s own code. More about TV Shows.
How to read the strips
Each strip is one season of a TV show. Each band is one episode, in air order, from the premiere on the left to the finale on the right. The colour is the episode’s IMDb user rating: red is low rated, yellow is average and green is high rated.
“Average” here means average for famous television. The 140 seasons in Huezle have a middle rating of about 8.4, so the scale puts yellow there, runs to full green at 9.4 and to full red at 7.0. A 7.5 episode reads orange-red even though it is a decent rating anywhere else.
Which final seasons are in the data. Huezle keeps at most three seasons of each show: the first three that have a usable rating for every episode. So the long-running shows famous for divisive endings, such as Game of Thrones or Dexter, are here only for their early seasons. A final season is in the data only when the whole run fits in three seasons, and this page says “final” only for those.

The drop happened in two steps. Season 2 averaged 7.54, half a point under the first, and season 3 held almost exactly there at 7.53. What changed in the last season is the shape: one high early episode and a steep fall at the end, where season 1 has no episode under 7.5.
Most other finished shows went the other way. Narcos’s last season averages 8.57, a shade under its first two, but that is a slow start rather than a weak season: its first three episodes are the lowest of the show and its last two are 9.3 and 9.1. Dark’s final season climbs to a 9.6 finale.

Avatar’s final season is its best-rated, at 8.90 against 8.21 and 8.67 before it, and its ending is the clearest green run on this page. For more seasons like it, see the best TV seasons of all time.
The seasons that slipped mid-run
The biggest drops in the data are not final seasons at all. They are a later season of a show that was still running, set against its earlier ones.

The Witcher’s third season averages 5.75, against 8.29 for its first. It is the lowest-rated season in Huezle by 1.4 points, and its seventh episode, at 4.3, is the lowest-rated episode in the data. Nothing in it reaches the 7.0 at which the scale stops being fully red, so the strip is red from end to end. The Last of Us fell from 8.67 to 7.26 in its second season: a 9.1 second episode, then 6.7 and 6.1, and a 6.2 finale. True Detective went from 9.24, the fourth-highest season in the data, to 7.85, before recovering to 8.16 in its third.
Every rating here is an IMDb user rating, which reflects who chose to vote. A season that disappoints can draw votes from unhappy viewers, so a dip partly measures how strongly people felt. More seasons are on the TV Shows page.
