Guess the comic book hero from 65 years of appearances.
Every strip covers the same 65 years, so where the colour starts is the character's debut. Spider-Man lights up in 1962. Characters created in the 2010s are dark for most of the strip.
The shape after that is the character's career: a slow build, a boom when a solo series launched, a fade, a revival when a film came out.
What one band is. One band is one year of comics, 1961 to 2025. Black means the character did not appear that year; the brighter the band, the more issues they were in.

Three things to look for.
You do not need to remember the data. You need to know what kind of shape the thing you are thinking of would make.
- Date the debut. The first lit band is the year the character first appeared. Most rounds turn on that alone.
- Look for the movie bump.A sudden bright stretch in the 2000s or 2010s often lines up with a film.
- Heroes outshine villains.A villain appears in other characters' books; a headliner has their own, so their bands run brighter.
